Hey guys,

I'm looking at gaming keyboards of the mechanical variety and am wondering which to go for. Sad to say that the budget is about £70.

Backlit preferably and I'm not fussed about switch type as I'm sure that it will be a step up from my current membrane keyboard.

:D All advice appreciated thanks.

Think you will struggle to get a nice backlit one for that price mate. You can look at the Corsair K65 and Ducky DK2108 but neither are backlit.

If you can increase your budget another £30 you can look at the Ducky Shine II's and the Corsair K70 which are both backlit keyboards. I have the K70 myself and it's easily my favourite peripheral I own.

That keyboard is so pretty :D

Okay probably gonna look at increasing my budget here. Loving the programmable backlight that's one hell of a luxury feature. :)

You really won't regret spending £100 on a mechanical keyboard. The K70 would also be a good buy too. Top build quality and pretty good looking

it can be quite big if you have never used one.

blue ones are more like the old IBM ones, very clicky

one of your best bets is to go for brown, then red, then black an then blue.
if you use it for games/usual typing a brown is perfect and is a closer move from a rubber keyb

how important is the layout for you? do you like tenkeyless?
for your budget CM Storm's would be the best pick!

Oooooo throwing more choice into the mix I like it :)

The CM Looks really nice actually! I'm liking that on top of the K65 purely on the basis of LIGHTS! :)

Easily pleased, I know. £78 isn't bad either. Hmmm, decisions are HARD!

I can not speak for all keyboad because i have only ever used the k70 but i can say i do love it for me Personally it has given me back the ability to see the keys so they must be really clear. Would really recomend it but be aware it is compact

You know you want to BDog :D just go without food or something for a bit :p

Also it is out and available in many other places, so not sure why it is still listed as Pre-Order

I saw this! Where is it already available?

Just a quick update guys I went for the CM Storm Quick Fire Pro. Partial Backlit with different modes plus full Cherry Red MX Switches.

Pretty happy with it actually! I did want to go all out but then my partner gave me the evil eye so I went for this one instead!

The jump to mechanical was easily the best decision. It's so nice to type on! Bit loud admittedly but not a major issue. :D

Thanks for all the advice though guys! Much appreciated. :)
