A friend wants a decently powered laptop. He already has a netbook.
It will not be used for gaming as he has an xbox, but he would like the laptop to have a cpu that isn't crap like atom in the netbook.

So OCUK what do you recommend?
Any decent i3/i5 laptops around for this price?

I am thinking i5 because the graphics is on the cpu and the laptop therefore should be cooler with better battery life.

Sony VAIO EB1 E0E/WI / Core i3 330M 2.13GHz / 3GB DDR3 / 320GB / DVD-SM / 15.5" / Windows 7 Home Premium 64 Bit / Laptop / Notebook / White

Found it at a popular online e-tailer for £499 (just cut and paste the description it will lead you there). Saw it in real life and its very well made. Bargain at this price.

Not sure about that, I had a look at that today and it's a bit large, it's not bad value though. I think you can get the Dell Studio 17 with the i3 for just a tad more, which is what is tempting me the most at the moment.

He got the Acer laptop from a certain big pc shop that is often a bit poo.
However for cheap laptops they are quite good. OCUK only really sell alienware laptops and as nice as they are I could never justify that much on a laptop!

The Acer he bought looked fairly good. There were some better looking laptops around but they were often £100 more, just for a slightly fancier case!

His cost £500 (plus my top cashback:) On reserve and collect).

I don't think that was a bad price for an i3, 4gb ram, 5470 graphics and an LED backlit screen. At freaking last laptops are coming with 64bit windows 7!!!!
