Hi guys

I'm in the market for a laptop - don't have a budget per se, but don't want to spend a lot of money. Basically it needs to have the basic functions of a normal laptop but needs to be able to connect to internet wirelessly, have at least 512mb ram (preferably 1gig though). As far as games...I don't want it to play the best games but some of the older ones, like RA2, Starcraft, HL etc...games from 'that' generation. Any suggestions?

Thanks for the suggestion but I've checked the dell site, and that model is more than that price if you add the extra ram (unless theres a discount code somewhere lol)

Any more suggestions please?

That laptop looks pretty good for the price to be honest. It's hard to tell how good a graphics card is for a laptop though - what would this be the equivilent of? (In desktop terms, I mean).

acer 5622 1 gig ram, intel core duo 1.66, 80 gig HD, wireless,DVD RW 15.4 widescreen and a radeon x1300 with 128mb dedicated ram - not the fastest in the world but not bad for a cheap laptop and better than part of the chipset...runs far cry nicely in widescreen 1280x800

599.99

Sounds pretty good for the price. How is the graphics card on this?

it plays far cry at 1280x800 no problem...

I play H&D2 on it as well but not tried anything newer on it

its not much by desktop standards..but by £600 quid laptop standards its much better than a chipset only solution plus its has its own vram and is not shared...though you can allocate extra memory to it if you want to
you can get x1400's and x1600's but you are then moving up to substantially more expensive laptops
