im looking for a new laptop now since my own has decided to almost die on me or is certainly on the way out..

iv got the choice of a HP laptop with:

AMD Phenom™ II Dual-Core Mobile Processor N620
- 2.8 GHz
- 3.6 GT/s HT
- 2 MB L2 Cache

ATI Mobility Radeon™ HD 5470 Graphics
- 512 MB DDR3 dedicated memory
- up to 2202 MB total shared memory

or a Samsung Laptop with:

• Processor family Intel Core i3
• L2 Cache 3 MB
• Chipset Intel HM55
• Processor Model 330M
• Processor Clock Speed 2130 MHZ

• Dedicated video memory 1024 MB
• Graphics adapter memory type GDDR3
• Graphic adapter NVIDIA GeForce GT 330 M

The one with the Intel processor - Samsung is cheaper as well,

Only thing that's throwing me is the graphics card in the HP is able to do Direct X 11 and Shader 5.1 where as the Samsung cant and also the Samsung has lower clock speeds on the graphics card. When looking at the bench mark results though the Samsung (Nvidia GEforce GT330m) is getting better FPS and better scores even though the card is a lot slower

What Laptop would you go for personally?

bought it now...

£429
intel i3 2.13Mhz
4GB DDR3 RAM
500GB SATA hard drive
Geforce 310m graphics card 512mb memory
windows 7 home premium (only 32bit tho :()

only thing is it only has the Geforce 310m which is a bit of a step down if im honest from what i was expecting but was a bargin price. you think i should have spent the extra £130 and got the one with the i5 processor and the geforce GT330m? everything else is the same apart from them two things...

I'm currently in the market for a laptop in the £400-£500 mark, and was wondering what the model number of that laptop was, looks interesting

Depends really. I would have said so if you need the horsepower. For £560, that's still a very good price for a i5 + GT 330M, and Samsungs get good reviews (R530 or R580 I assume).

Now it depends if you want to spend that kind of money, if you are able to get return the i3 and a refund, if the model is in stock, ect... Still, a i3 + 310M is a good machine.

Got it from a warehouse in Telford. It's the Samsung warehouse. They sell all sorts usually refurbished stuff. It had a faulty hard drive in mine. Cheap as hell you can order online it's called digiland.co.uk. Same prices as they state in the shop. Model number was r580-js02uk I think along them lines.

I'm not sure what horse power I want just yet not had chance to try it should be enough but il give it a go I would like it to be able to play the likes of dirt 2 on medium settings. I'll give it a go though. I got a good deal at the end of the day. I have 7 days no questions money back and 6 month warranty on parts. So I'm still covered.
