I have 6 rigs between work and home - all are windows xp home.

I need to do a clean reformat and install OS on one but how do I tell which license goes with that pooter?

Or you can use Belarc which also tells you some other nice info about your PC :)

I know jelly bean finder is trusted and is very good, but it gets picked up as a 'hacking tool' or a 'crack tool' on some anti viruses (I use PC Cillin). So if you don't want to go through the hassle of disabling your anti virus / telling the anti virus that it's safe then use then use Belarc

Yeah, I do that.

I got only one licence of XP Pro, so thats sweet, my main rig on the LAN is XP64, so thats cool too, but my LAN rigs are all either Home, or 2K.

When I was using 2K, I just created a basic setup CD that does not use a serial number and those are fine, but I have now upped them all to XP, and which one is which?

AS the systems are constantly being upgraded I often clear them out with a fresh install, and I have now resorted to simply numbering them with some transfers from WHSMIFZ that I have out onto the PC Case and the XP Installation CD, but also I have intergrated the drivers and serial numbers etc, into a custom CD for that PC too!

Much easier.

I will say however, that I was running 2 PCs with the very same licence number etc, and they both activated without any problems and they also both updated every time with no issues either!!! - Hmm... Both are NForce3 Mobos so that could have been a reason, they are both running nVIDIA GFX and Creative Audio Cards, so that too must have helped, but one thing that did make me think was that they could both do the MS updates at the same time too???

Anyway, I only noticed it because they are both setup with a network name of XP3200 and a user name of LANPC5 and it was only once I tried to run them both at the same time that one of them said the network name exists!!!

I renamed them but kept the OS on for weeks before I decided to do away with it just in case...
