Hi all,

Looking to consolidate my remotes into one easy monthly repay... wait, no, one easy remote. The Logitech remotes always get a lot of praise.

There seems to be three models;
  • Harmony Smart Control - £100
  • Harmony Touch - £110
  • Harmony Touch Ultimate - £150
Does anyone have any experience of these? The only difference I can tell between the Touch and the Ultimate is the number of IR transmitters. Do you think a touch screen is required and worth it? You still get the hub with the Touch remotes right? So they work with the PS3 without further adapters?

I will be using the remote to control live TV, PS3, and the amp. It would be good to support any future devices too such as a streaming device.

I like that they all support iOS/Android but I'm skeptical how rapid the response will be. I don't want to press a button and have a very noticeable delay before it is registered.

Edit: If these things use bluetooth it is a shame they don't allow for music to be streamed to them. Would save another device!

Cheers!

I have the Ultimate. The major difference with the Smart Control and Ultimate is that they're RF-based not IR AFAIK. They communicate via RF with the hub allowing you to close devices behind doors with an IR transmitter and still work with them. The normal Touch is IR, meaning you need line of sight to the device.

With the touchscreen I don't even bother with the iOS/Android apps so I'd say it's worth the extra money.

I have the Smart, it's wifi based. Only cost me £50 and I love it.

Once set up I just use the same few buttons anyway and hadn't found myself wanting the screen, the lack of LCD also means the battery last ages, years even.

I have the Ultimate and glad I went for it over the others. The screen is amzing, so responsive and quick to use. I did miss having individual number buttons, but then realised I could swipe my screen to find them!

I have the Harmony Ultimate and love it..

I would hate to own just the touch as it would be a pain in the ass having to keep it pointed at whatever your trying to control with it while using the LCD screen...
