Sorry for creating loads of threads, i just have loads of questions!

A brief one, which mail client do people use, i'm undecided between installing Thunderbird or just using the mac Mail client. Unless there's something better i'm missing??

Thanks,

Ive always used mail.app and always will, never any problems with it :)

Gmail is a good option so you can access your emails from anywhere and it adds IMAP to any POP3 account so as soon as the server gets an email its pushed through to you and you can access them from anywhere in the world :)

I like Mail.app

Only problem I have with it is its obsession with creating junky "Apple Mail To Do" folders on my IMAP account regardless of the preference settings. It's bugged.

I use Mail with a Gmail account. Mail almost replicates Gmail's web interface except for label colouring which can only be applied to new emails :(

Not many people know that Mail offers Gmail's conversation feature which can be enabled by going to "View" in the menu bar and clicking on "Organize by Thread" :p

If you go into Mail's preferences, click on composing and change the "Create Notes & To Do's in" to "On My Mac" option. After doing this, delete the "Apple Mail To Do" folder from Gmail's web interface and it should no longer appear.

Thanks, but I've tried that and more. Sometimes it stays gone for a while, but it is always recreated eventually, somehow. Sometimes under a big nest of duplicated folders. As well as the local "ToDos.mbox" skanking up the place.

I just wish you could completely disable of Mail's To-Do / Note rubbish - I don't want them on my computer or on the remote IMAP account. It's an email program.

If you're using Notes in Mail and iCal for To Do's (which syncs them to Mail), it seems Mail still creates the annoying folder regardless of what preferences you've chosen. I'm using Things for To Do's which is not synced to iCal (contains no To Do's) and I never get the folder :o

This annoyed me for ages as well, I would get rid of the "Apple Mail To Do" folder only for it to return for no apparent reason. It seems to get recreated if a message is moved from the Inbox from what I can remember. Now I just live with it :(

On my Mac at work 10.4.11 mail.app is slow and crashes out a lot (probably become corrupt). I've switched to Thunderbird and that's working fine.

What I hate about mail.app is inline graphics - no good for sending jpeg attachments to clients. Sending zipped graphics is the alternative but adds an extra step.

Is it any better in Leopard?

Yup, that's the downside.. although allowing me to rename it would be a start :(

Always bugged me, that!
