I have some problems with voip connections from time to time, I have QOS on my router but my switch is a netgear unmanaged one.

Can anyone recommend a low end managed switch where I can prioritise voip packets?

How many ports, do your phones (or other devices) need PoE?

I've recently configured a ZyXel GS1900-24HP for a small office environment and it works well, is simple to configure, and not particularly expensive. They are available in 8, 10, 24 and 48 port varieties (GS1900-8HP, 10HP, 24HP, 48HP).

The 8 Port can be had for around £100, which for a managed, gigabit, PoE switch seems pretty keenly priced.

I have a GS1900 at home, have VoIP on a Vlan but not qos as I have fast enough internet to not need it. It’s a good switch, loads of options.

This, it's far more likely to be something on your router/firewall. SIP ALG being one of them.

This very much. I use a number of SIP phones at home, initially through basic unmanaged 1Gb/Sec switches and the only times they would loose connection was in transferring huge files across the network. If you want a managed switch I'd recommend Ubiquiti gear but I'm biased as I've got loads of it due to the upgrade bug!

When I got the Unifi Security Gateway I had a lot of SIP issues mainly with incoming calls and discovered it was down to SIP ALG, since disabling there haven't been any more proble.
