Which Mario game should I get for the Wii?

I absolutely loved New Super Mario Bros DS, and fully completed it

I fancy getting one of the Mario games for the Wii, which one should I get, Galaxy or the new one?

The gf might dabble in the game a bit too (she generally just plays Lego games with me)

Get Galaxy first as it'll take awhile to complete, during which time the price of the new one should drop.

Galaxy is brilliant. The girlfriend can join in and shoot enemies for you.

NSMBW is fun but I prefered the DS version, Galaxy however is brilliant

Is Galaxy fairly linear? I completed Mario 64, but I much prefer doing a level by level approach without having to travel between the levels themselves.. I stopped playing Sunshine after about 15 stages

I've already got Mario Kart. I like it, but I wish it wasn't so easy if you're last and harsh if you're first.

Crash Team Racing on the Playstation 1 is far better imo.

Indeed. MK:Wii is hideously balanced. MKDS is far superior.

Mario Galaxy is superb. Game of the generation for me. NSMB is very good too and a must for any Mario/2d platformer fan (it's a clear step up from the DS version and nearly on par with the nes/snes greats), but not in the same league as Galaxy.

I cannot wait for Galaxy 2!
