So far I can only find that the current chips used on the 2GB 380 are Samsung K4G20325FS-HC03 which are apparently only rated for 1250/1300Mhz, so there are running them beyond spec it seems on the 2G.

I can't seem to find any info on the 4GB memory chips though?

Update: Hmm... seem to have found it: H5GC4H24AJR-T2C (that's on the Sapphire Nitro). Same Memory as on the 390X 8GB.
Apparently rated for 6000Mhz as standard at 1.5V, or 5000Mhz at 1.35V. Pretty safe to assume it will easily goto 6000, and perhaps a little beyond on these cards. No idea if you can overvolt the memory though to go higher.

H5GC4H24AJR-T2C FBGA(170ball)
6.0Gbps 16Bank, 1.5V / 1.5V Now
5.0Gbps 16Bank, 1.35V / 1.35V Now

I skim read a review on greentech and they noted the memory on a 390X (the same memory) coudl go to 1625 (6500Mhz). Would be impressive if it could do it on these 380's. I've seen it said that on AMD cards the memory overclock doesn't make that much difference, but would it in this circumstance as it's 256bit bus?

My 290X which uses that memory can get up up 1680. My other one uses Samsung K4G20325FD-FC03 memory which will do 1700, so you should be good.

That's great feedback thank you.

I did read that the memory clock also puts stress on the core which is interesting, so I guess it's a balancing act with overclocking.

I reliably got to 1150/1160 using plus 40mv and 40 percent power limit (registry hack to enable that). I didn't push for much more than that as I decided to focus on setting up the rest of my pc and playing games. (Plus I got a new case so was busy looking for fans etc)

The memory clock didn't seem to impact the max core speed as widely reported. My memory overclock easily gets 1550 mhz, I think even 1600mhz, but I didn't actually try any higher than that.

I am gonna be honest and say I don't really think it matters that much which version you get, they all seem to clock the same roughly if you can add voltage.
