Which memory for new rig?

Have a thread over on general about a new rig I am building and decided to post here looking for some specific advice on memory.

Am going to be running a Core 2 Duo extreme, probably on an Intel Bad Axe (seems most reliable board from what I have read over on the motherboards forum), and using my 7950GX2.

Would like to overclock as high as possible.

Wondering which of these I should go for. I can afford either at the moment.

G.Skill 2GB DDR2 HZ PC2-8000 (2x1GB) CAS4 Dual Channel Kit (F2-8000PHU2-2GBHZ) (MY-010-GS) £358.36

OR

G.Skill 2GB DDR2 HZ PC2-6400 (2x1GB) CAS4 Dual Channel Kit (F2-6400PHU2-2GBHZ) (MY-013-GS) £205.61

From what I have read on these forums the 6400's have the same IC's as the 8000's. Can they reach 400mhz though ? And would the 8000's overclock to this with better timings ?

Or is there better memory for overclocking out there ? (besided the Dominator)

The HZ PC6400 is great memory and clocks way above 400Mhz, I've seen plenty of results above 500mhz, so I'd save your pennies and go with that kit :)

That's great advice mate. Thanks.
At 400-450mhz what are the recommended timings and voltages for the 6400 ?

Oh..and what is the advantage of the 8000 then ? Is it just marketing ?

That ram is rated to run 4-4-4-12 at 400Mhz.

Realistically, you won't be going over 400fsb on air unless you drop the multi to 8, so the PC6400 should be enough to let you push that cpu as far as it will go at 1:1.

The PC8000 is really only for hardcore 'clockers with vapos, or guys with unlocked multis that want to reach really high fsbs. Definitely not worth the extra £153.
