I'm after some new memory.. I currently have 2gigs of OCZ DDR800 stuff (4-4-4-15). I'm would like memory that can cope with a highish FSB while still keeping fairly tight timings.. Idealy still CAS 4.

My CPU is a 6400 and it can clock to around 3.5GHz stable but my RAM can't keep up at that FSB:( Currently I have to run my FSB at 420MHz otherwise my memory fails Orthos.. I don't really want to have to drop to CAS 5.

I've been looking at the OCZ PC7200 as this would allow me up to 450MHz while still keeping CAS 4.. But was wondering if there were any 6400 sticks that would do a similar job? Or is it worth going for a PC8000 or 8500 set and maybe up the RAM divider?

Cheers,
Andy

I had two pairs of the OCZ PC6400 and they both did ~920 @4-4-4-12.

Are you giving them 2.1v?

Other than that, the PC5300 Crucial Ballistix should see you upto 950mhz @4-4-4-12 and probably over 1000mhz with a little loosening.

I've tried everything up to 2.3Vs with my memory, but they aren't stable at 850MHz with CAS 4. If I drop the CAS they work fine.. But I don't want to have to do that! :)

Might just get the 7200s as that will give me a bit of headroom and they aren't that expensive.. Plus they're guaranteed to hit 900Mhz with CAS 4.

Sounds like you have the OCZ 'Gold' RAM. I think you are looking for the 'Platinum' to get that kind of performance. I nearly bought OCZ gold but cancelled it just in time after reading some very disappointing reviews.

I changed to the Geil Ultra PC6400 at 4-4-4-12 2T 2.1v and they are working easily at 850Mhz right now. I haven't even bothered trying going higher, but I'm pretty sure they will ;)
