I have the A+ and N+ and from what i keep on reading a CCNA is a waste of time without experience although CCENT maybe ok, i was thinking therefore of doing a microsoft one, want a job like 1st line support, Cisco engineer, general networking, pc technician, systems admin, anything really, i am probably dreaming but no harm in getting another cert, any tips out of these certs what to go for?

I am leaning toward the MCSE.

MCSE
MCSA
MCDST
MCTS
MCITP

Those certs are made of multiple MCPs (i.e. 7 exams for the MCSE), choose the ones that interest you the most or are relevant to your job. Maybe start with the basics with 70-290 Windows XP ?

I'm currently doing the MCITP 60-240 for Server 2008. MCSE is gradually being "phased out". I say phased out, all though it will always be a relevant qualification as most people are still Server 2003 you are pushing it's life.

70-270 is a good introduction to the microsoft exams its actually suprisingly hard (but not actually hard), but really gets you used to the "microsoft" way of doing things, and will make the server based exams more easy!
