At the moment i play starwars galaxies but because sony online entertainment keep ripping chunks out of the game its losing players at a very fast rate(well done S.O.E) so what mmo should i go to, stargate worlds aint gonna be out at least for another year maybe 2, and starwars knights of the old republic online isnt out until 2009 either, so im stuck, and im not going to WoW as im not a fan of playing games for ages 3+.

EQ2. It's a SOE game, but unlike SWG it's their own IP, so they don't have LucasArts stooges breathing down their neck all the time, so they've done a decent job of turning an awful game at launch into a pretty decent game now. And they've also managed to eradicate all of Raph Koster's influence on the game now.

I'd vote EQ2, I played it from launch and it's a great game. I quit when I didn't have the time to throw at it any more, but has a lot of solo and group content.

Can always grab the trial and see what you think.

So you want an MMO for someone under 3 years old?

Hmmm... you might be able to find some kind of Tweenies flash games on the BBC site. I doubt you can save progress though.

Depends on what you want - Eve for depth and freedom, LOTRO for storyline and atmosphere, EQ2 is pretty good these days too, decent community.

Vanguard's actually not at all bad either, but I think the end game's still very empty.

Whatever your preconceptions, I think you'd be daft not to at least give WoW a trial. As with any large group of people you'll find a lot of idiots. The trick is to ignore them, as there are a lot of good people out there as well.

For a new player, WoW is utterly stuffed with content at the moment. The next patch is going to improve the levelling process as well.

i think i will move over to wow as i do love starwars but it has 20 thousand people in total and most of them are never on and it gets damn lonely, sure im in a kick ass guild but more and more people are going to wow and soe arent helping it any with taking content away instead of adding.

Lol:p

Seriously, wow is a great game with a lot more adults than kiddies. You're just letting all the haters force their opinions on you. I'm 30 and am not the oldest person in our guild by a long way.

As mentioned with WoW, there are a lot of kiddies, but due to the IP involved and its emergance as one of the first really mass market MMORPGs there are a lot of adults playing too, just find a guild with a more mature player base, rather than one averaging around 16yrs and you should be fine :) My main character's guild has people ranging from 16+ to the best part of 60 yrs old, so WoW has picked up a much larger demographic than the stereotype.
Might also be worth looking around the forums if you consider it, as despite the huge amount of whine, you can sometimes pickup good information on classes, and which servers would be good to go to.

WoW has its problems, but its one of the few games I've played, and despite having cut down time due to work and not wanting to lose my life, had a few breaks etc, Im still playing after 2 1/2 years, so there is plenty of content, if you look at the overall experience - levelling/raiding/doing crazy stuff for fun/pvp/social aspects...a lot of people focus on one aspect after a while, and thats often when their enjoyment soon starts to begin to suffer.

As mentioned, next patch, they're improving the lvl 1-60 grinding process by reducing xp needed, buffing the loot and making solo quests in the old content easier (ie elite mobs---> standard mobs after patch2.3) so you can catch up to the Burning Crusade expansion quicker, might be worth trying then.

If you don't want to try WoW still, despite some of the stuff thats been said in this thread, then fair play to you as well, it's all about fun at the end of the day.
