hi

im about to upgrade to a 6600 conroe and im not sure wich mobo to buy .

It must support ide drives so i think that just leaves the 975 chipset .

I also want to hopefully get it up to 3gig as well .but I dont need sli

thanks for your help

does the 965 support ide hard drives . Im going to hve to keep my drives for now and spend my cash on mobo cpu and ram

cheers

yes it does
but like the DS3 it has only 1 ide connector=2 hard drives
same with the Asus 965 boards which are a bit fidly due to the jmicron setting

Then again
Samsung SpinPoint P SP2504C 250GB SATA-II 8MB Cache £55.17 Including VAT
Western Digital Caviar SE16 250GB 2500KS SATA-II 16MB Cache - OEM £54.04 Including VAT

Just think about 55 quid more and you would be set :) sataII>ide

look about forum, u will c that that 6300/6400 runs real good on the ds3/ds4 boards & the 6600/6700 runs grt on the asus boards

your better off with 975x board + 6600......forget about DS3 ....unless your strapped for cash

975x will easily have enough FSB for your 6600 even under phase and clock for clock has more performance than 965 chipset.

i think all 975x boards only have the 1 ide tho ...by default the chipset doesn't even support IDE....there may be some boards with more than 1 but im not sure???
