For an e6300 you want a 975 board, and the Gigabyte ds3 is probably the top choice.
For an e6600 you want a 975x board.

VoG said:i take it that still holds true if you go for the 6400 instead of the 6300?.
i went for the 6400 just to be different/awkward![]()

One which supports crossfire.. though its not neccessary..
The Asgard said:I would opt for the DS4 or the 3 because of the better cooling
sunama said:Surely, the Gigabyte DS3 paired with the E6600 would be the ultimate combo, as you are guarenteed to be able to max out the cpu - the Asus doesnt seem to reach the same bus speeds that the Gigabyte boards are commonly reaching?
Carbine said:I just want a mobo which will be stable yet be able to overclock the CPU to the max.
Don't need to worry about the cooling as i have 3 separate loops. 1 cooling just the CPU, 1 for the GPU and 1 cooling chipset, ram, hard drives and maybe add a v-reg cooler if the mobo has one.
As with the quote above.. does it matter about the type of ram?
I'm getting the Gskill HZ6400 ram
sunama said:You will be watercooling the ram? Do you have any links (if that is what you intend to do)?
I also am on water and on my next system which will be conroe I'm thinking of cooling the chipset. For chipset cooling I think the DS3 will be the best as you can just take off the existing chipset heatsink and replace with the block. With a DS4, you have to remove the entire heatpipe block which may effect cooling all the other parts of the motherboard.
The DS4 has better cooling than the DS3, the Asus isn't part of that statementsunama said:Can you clarify that please - are you suggesting that the DS3 & DS4 both have better cooling than the Asus?
