I'm just wondering which modem everyone uses for PSN/LIVE, mostly ineterested in a modem which will give me NAT type 2/UPNP enabled on PSN.

My connection is ADSL.

:)

Assuming you mean a router, I use a Netgear WPN824 (there is an ADSL equivalent) with both PSN / Live flawlessly with no NAT problems or any connectivity problems.

I use the Bebox (on Be after all) and I get open NAT and never had any problems. Also got a Netgear DG834 that i used last year and never had any problems with that either.

I'm currently using a netgear DG834PN, but for some reason it won't enable UPNP on PSN(i've done all port forwarding etc...) which is holding me back from hosting games on MGS4.

I use a Netgear DG834 (non wireless one) with the required PSN ports open to get type 2 NAT. I also open the ports to get open nat on the xbox also.

As long as you know how to open the ports you'll get open nat. If you don't, manually assign the PS3/Xbox to a different ip and see if that works. I can put my xbox on for example 192.168.0.4 and it wont be open and then if i put it on 192.168.0.12 it will work. Just play around and see what works. Definitely use a manual ip though.

My Netgear DG834G has done me great this past year and always gives me open NAT on both 360 and PS3.

Only problem I've had with it was when I upgraded the firmware to the latest version and it wouldnt handle the PS3's WPA encryption anymore (but would handle the 360's for some odd reason). It was eventually sorted a week later when a new firmware was released to fix the problem.

I was looking at this modem http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=NW-072-LS

does anyone have any opinions about it?

I have used this router and the non speedboster variation for extended periods of time (I still keep the non speedboost one as a secondary backup). The DG834GT is better them in every way (Even the G version of the router, is better than the Linksys as long as you get a V2 or V3 unit)

Would this work fine with ADSL? it says cable but in the description it says cable or dsl.
This is useless to you as it has no ADSL modem built in.

I use the GT myself at the moment (But I have BE so use ADSL2+ which they are very compatible with). The DG834GT is much better than the G version in terms of compatibility (and usually higher sync speeds) with the ADSL equipment in your local exchange. I have configured many of both versions for people with 360s and PS3s.

I got myself a dg834gt today but can't get my NAT open on my wireless 360 but on my wired one it is  has anyone had this problem and fixed it? I have opened the required ports also.

Is the check for NAT failing when completing the 360 network status check?

It's odd that it's working for the wired 360, but not the wireless one as I believe NAT is essentially a router component, not 360 side. (If that makes sense) Is the 360 passing the IP address check?

I'm familiar with the DG834G, but not the GT. Is uPnP enabled? This should allow devices to amend certain settings within the router to enable you to connect.

(uPnP from the left hand menu under advanced)

it passes all the tests but tells me my nat is moderate. Upnp is enabled also. I'll try putting it in DMZ later and see if that sorts gt.

It never makes any sense the whole NAT setting, int he end I HAD to have an automatic IP address for my NAT to be open, even if I put the IP manually in that DHCP had assigned the NAT would then be moderate.

I tried it in the DMZ too. So annoying all the nat issues.

When I run a test on my PS3's internet connection it says UPnP not available. Is it something which is really needed?

Apparently, not I was told. My type is Nat2 yet I have so many issues playing FIFA online games there is something not quite right with my PS3 and NAT.

You don't have to have uPnP enabled if you manually configure your router for each specific device (opening ports etc)

If uPnP is enabled, then it allows devices to manually open the ports it needs... hence making it a lot simpler, and essentially 'Plug N Play'!
