Im looking for a new PSU, something 500w+ but i'd prefer around 600w for future proofing, it must be modular and i dont want to spend more than 70quid and it has to be from one the the better manufacturers

which one should i go for guys and gals ? :)

Bog standard response of - Corsair HX 520w ticks all the boxes and is capable of powering all but the most demanding systems, the five year warranty is reassuring as well. :)

thx guys, the thing is my son needs a new PSU for his rig, so i thought i'd give him mine and buy myself a new one , ive got a newish antec heo 500w modular in now , so the corsair isnt gunna be much of an upgrade is it ?

I appreciate there wont be any difference in performance atm but when the new gen of 9800 cards come out i'll probably buy one so i 'may' need a better performing PSU, hence i was looking at around 600w :)

i just bought my self a HX620 today

very nice psu, not installed it yet, more then enough power for any system tbh

I know quite a number of members absolutely adore the corsair psu's with their 5 yr warranty and build quality.

Have not owned one so cannot comment on quality but was put of by the inflated prices and , more importantly , the return to the states rma procedure that I read applies.

In end went 'cheap' by buying a Coolermaster M700 psu a few days ago which ,so far, I am pleased with (quieter ,cooler , simpler to use and set up,and a fair bit more powerful than the old Hiper Type R580 and Tagan 480 psu's I also use)

Was tempted by OCZ psu's - but was advised noisy and Seasonic - but was unimpressed with price/performance ratio.

The Coolermaster has a 3 year warranty and , I hope, RMA in the u.k.

As owned for less than a week too early to recomend but I have no complaints so far.

are antec still considered top end PSUs ? ive found a nice 650w modular one for 70quid

I recommend the coolermaster range, got 2 systems running 1000w versions and quite simply the best psu's I have ever had, never had any problems whatsoever.

eggnoodle - you sig hurts my eyes!

Anyway . . the only downside to the Corsairs is the RMA having to go to USA. The upside is the build quality is superb.

I'm still torn between the pcpowerandcooling and Zalman offerings as reliability and noise are the main factors for me. I'm tempted to go by the Zalman kit.

I have an OCZ gameXstream very happy with it can't say its noisy at all. 3 year Warranty if by far enough as you will most likely be upgrading before then anyway,
