I'm building a computer for a friend for gaming. They only have a budget of £100-115 for the monitor. I'd normally spend quite a bit more on a monitor so I'm not so sure about these low end ones.

I've been looking at the following:

  • OcUK L-2266WD 22" £101.99 inc VAT
  • OcUK Cream 22" £108.09 inc VAT
  • Iiyama ProLite E2208HDD 22" £114.99 inc VAT
  • OcUK L-2362WD 23" £114.99 inc VAT
  • Dell IN2010N 20" £105.74 inc VAT
  • Samsung B2030N 20" £105.74 inc VAT
Obviously the last 3 in that list aren't 22", but put them in to see what peoples opinion of them are.

Questions:

Is the Iiyama any better than the OcUK branded ones?

Are the 20"'s noticably better than the 22" to warrant the similar price?

Is that 23" any good?

What do you think I should get?

This is the one I would go for.

The Iiyama ProLite E2208HDD you list also looks good. As for the quality of the Iiyama vs the OCUK ones - I believe OCUK uses DGM and HKC monitors - so you should expect the quality to be better with a more reputable monitor brand like Iiyama.

The 20 inchers are no better than the quality 22 inchers (BenQ, Iiyama), for one they are lower resolution and use the the same technology (TN) panels.

Thanks cmndr_andi, I hadn't seen that one in this weeks deals. I'm aware of the different types of panels, and at this price I accepted I was unlikely to find anything other than TN. I was just wondering if there was any other major differences apart from brand and better warranty.

Guess unless someone tells me otherwise I'll be getting that then.
