Which monitor for me?

Hi ALL,

I have an ageing but lovely NEC 24WMGX and i want at some point this year to buy 2 new ones or a sister for my current one. as CES has been and gone what is the state of play with monitors now? do we finally see that monitor to rule them all this year?

anyway the NEC 24WMGX is nice but the input lag not so much and would love some new tech to help me work faster with less fatigue.

ideally this is what i'm after in a new second or two new ones.
marking requirements out of ten on what i need ten being very important.

low input lag 8
colours 7
viewing angle 8
3D 2
120hz / 240hz 4
24 inch 9
16 :10 8
16: 9 6

used primarily for 3D work, Art , some gaming, net use.

so there we go not concerned by brand, price to much. just want an awesome monitor or 2 to do my work for long periods of time.

I think we're all slightly different when it comes to what we want from a monitor. But I've never regretted going bigger (in resolution), and I'm now spoiled by IPS. Although my 27" DGM is currently on the blink, there is no doubt whatsoever that if I can't get it fixed I'll be getting another high res 27" panel; probably a Dell, despite the additional cost. The work space is very easy to get used to, the IPS colour and contrast is exceptional, and for gaming my DGM has scaled very well to 1080p, and even on an E8400@3GHz with 5870 I've run several titles at native resolution... which is very pretty indeed.

Anyway, I've no idea what the 'flavour of the month' is for monitors, but I do know I'm ummed and ahhed about every screen I've ever bought, but it's the most important part of a PC IMO and, as I said above, I've never regretted bigger and better.

I even prefer a single 27" now to the triple screen machine I have just for sim racing, though to be fair those are cheap & cheerful 19" panels; the overall resolution is greater but a single high res panel is more impressive.

see that's where I'm a bit different, I've owned a 27" before and hated it and eventually sold it at a Loss. it was just to big for me i ended up constantly having to turn my head to see what was in my prereferral vision, where as with a 24 it seems just right. maybe it was the extra height or something with the 27 but i really didn't enjoy using it. hence i'd much prefer to put my cash into a second monitor. for gaming sure 27" is probably better but work wise it wasn't for me.
