Which monitor should I get?

I need some help with picking the monitor. My requirements are ips, 1440p, 27". Can't get rog swift or that pb asus because they are either unavailable or too expensive here.
Thought about Korean one but the wait time, pretty much no warranty, no scaler etc just doesn't cut it for me right now.
So I've been researching what's available and came down to 1 choice and it's Dell U2713HM. I know it's not very fast (input lag ~22ms) and some have issues but I will have warranty and can take it to the store and replace it if it has any of the other issues including dead pixels.

What do you guys think, is it a good choice or? I'm gonna be using it for everything, I watch a lot of tv shows and movies now but also for gaming both pc and consoles (360 and ps3 and ps4 in the future).

I have the same requirements as you (27" 1440p, ips/pls, mountable, good looks with small bezels as possible) I've rounded it down to a few panels with the following conclusions.
Dell U2713HM (Backlight issues/bad response times for gaming)
Asus PB278Q (2 years old but still a good all rounder)
AOC Q2770PQU (cheap but it's looks put me off, sorry)
BenQ BL2710PT (just adding this as the underdog?)

We use Dells at work and I've always wanted one for home but the backlight issues and the response times put me off as a "medium" gamer. I don't play twitch fps games but ghosting in games like assassins creed is a concern for me. Even though the Asus is 2 years old I'm currently leaning towards it, going to be mounting it on a dual monitor mount arm. It's also got one of the best user tested response times in this post (http://wecravegamestoo.com/forums/m...40-semi-glossy-8-bit-frc-pls.html#post1292911) dont know how legitimate those are. Not sure if this helps you but I thought I'd show you my choices and see if they can be built on.

Check out new version of that asus PB278QR, but from what I've heard it hasn't been reviewed/tested enough. It costs almost double the dell's price here so I bought dell, picking it up tomorrow. Hopefully I don't regret my decision. People told me that gamed on it there are no issues so fingers crossed.

I think he might mean this one - http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=MO-018-AO&groupid=17&catid=1120

It uses a Samsung PLS panel, so better than TN, but not quite as nice as IPS, but still very very good.

TFTCentral seem to think PLS and IPS are pretty much one and the same. Colours, viewing angels, response times etc etc. Pretty much comes down to what the individual monitor offers over the competition.

That said, after looking at an IPS panel right next to a PLS, I prefered the PLS but that could have been down to other factors rather than the panel itself.

so long as there's no dead pixels or a lot of bleed it's all good :D

I guarantee mine will have dead pixels though

The two technologies are very much comparable. PLS has a marginally broader colour gamut for the standard gamut backlights which can make things look a touch more vibrant, which some users prefer. As TFT Central notes the overall characteristics are extremely similar and it's definitely wrong to think that IPS is in any way the superior technology (or vice-versa).

Interesting didn't notice they released a new version, seems the only difference is the IPS panel, true 8-bit colour output without dithering and 'EyeCare' (flicker free backlight) (https://pcmonitors.info/asus/asus-pb278qr-with-ips-panel/). Not sure if that is worth an extra £100 over the non R however if PLS is as good as everyone says.

seconded :) Same goes for AU Optronics' AHVA tech (not to be confused with AMVA)

Well my AOC arrived yesterday

I've no idea why people keep saying it's a bland ugly looking monitor. It's black and square like 99% of all other monitors lol I think it actually looks really good myself, but it's wall mounted so perhaps when people say it's ugly, they are commenting on the stand? Speaking of which, the stand is a heavy beast!

Zero dead pixels, no bleed, looks fantastic!

I'm using the icc profile and settings from TFTCentral, but other than the brightness (22 seemed low?) I didn't notice any difference?

Have to say, I'm very happy with it

I can't quite put my finger on it but it just doesn't look nice to me, yes the stand is the ugliest, probably a bit of brand snobbery in there as well aoc aren't the best monitor brand out there and the logo isn't the nicest to look at.

Personally I have rounded my choices down to the Asus PB278Q (PLS) and the Benq BL2710PT (AHVA) but both have their downsides which leaves me with unanswered questions.

Can anyone confirm whether the newest asus PB278Q 1440p panels still have PWM backlight? I heard that the early models did but the newer ones don't? I saw a video of the flicker on LinusTechTips and it looks quite bad, since I game a lot in the dark I'm worried it might affect my eyes quite badly.

As for the BenQ it looks ideal but the input lag is worse then the Asus, 25ms (according to TftCentral) vs the PB278Q's 16.6ms, does anyone have this monitor that can comment on gaming with the BL2710PT?

I picked up Dell monitor and it's great! No dead pixels, no bleed, nothing, works great and looks awesome. Stand is really good with that rotation and everything, love it. So far, I can't say I regret picking it one bit!

Got my AOC this morning and it's very nice. I have used used the TFT settings too but, like you said, the brightness looks a bit low at 22. What did you settle on for brightness? I've got mine on 40 at the moment and it looks ok. Mine's wall mounted due to lack of desk space but it does look huge compared to my Dell 24". Time to go and play some Mordor at 1440p :)

Mine just arrived this morning as well. I used the colour profile from here...

FYI for anyone in the same position I actually did went for the BenQ BL2710PT in the end, reviews swayed me and the backlight flicker on the Asus concerned me greatly which I think was justified as after a week with he BenQ I've been running the brightness at 35% which would have been well in the Asus potential flicker zone. The colours are fantastic and after testing a few games there is (for me anyway) no ghosting to report. Very happy and would recommend it to anyone. The only bad thing is I didn't quite expect such a framerate hit on my GTX 680, 1440p is more intensive than I thought.

Bought an Arctic Cooling Z2 Pro monitor arm to mount it on, just need a second BenQ to match and replace my old 24".

^^^^ Ditto in regards to the BenQ as both of my AOC's had terrible BLB. The BenQ is a lovely monitor and seems to compliment my GTX970 very nicely.
