Which monitor would you rather have?

You're probably likely to encounter similar issues on both tbh, IPS glow and bleed... very much a lottery though. I'd just be sure to buy from somewhere where returning is easy.

165Hz is nice if you have a GPU to run the games you want to play beyond 100FPS, but the immersion of the X34 is also very enjoyable. I think preference on this can be somewhat subjective, so if you can try an ultrawide first that would be ideal.

I have a x34a which i want to swap for the PG279Q.

The reason for this is I'm starting to get back into competitive games which obviously is better on the 27inch. but I feel like I will miss my x34 and may regret it but not sure.

My GPU is a 980ti

I've just bought an X34 and I already know I never, ever want to go back to 16:9.

I have both the rog swift and the x34a and I only game on the x34 , I couldn't go back either
Hmmm your making me not want to swap now aha,

The only thing is with the ikea desk i have which is 200cm the monitor even with a desk mount is still far too in my face, as well as i feel like its hard work in fast FPS games.

A flat wall mount would probably fix this but I can't seem to find one that i can adjust slightly, as it will be flat i know it won't have much adjustment but I really like altering the height.

But i think it's looking like I'll regret it for the immersion factor if anything.

Lol :)...on mot games I play, I'm getting around 100 fps , even ACC I get around 75-80, BF4 200 fps BF1 around 90 fps, PCs2 around 90+, AC about 90+ :)

Do have to say though I got my x34 half price ( B-Grade)

For me its simple 4k = more detail and in some games it will shine better like single player RPGs where you stop and look.
Ultrawide is more immersion.

I have a 4k OLED Tv which I hooked up to play Destiny 2 and it was stunning but the slow refresh and boxed view killed it for me.

Playing Destiny 2 on a 49 or 34 Ultrawide is for me the best experience for the game.

I played around with UW at a store and found that I didn't really get sucked into it that much. But I did find that the more curved the screen, the better it got. Recommend trying UW out first to see for yourself.

I currently have the PG279Q and it covers all my gaming needs. It's getting returned/exchanged because of a bright pixel after 1 week of use, but other than that I love it. For my high FPS shooters 165Hz is very nice and for my 3rd person POV's with high quality visuals the Gsync handles everything without worry.

In hamburger land, we have Costco that gives me a 90 day return window. I'm thinking about spending some more time with an X34p or an AW34DW for a couple of months to see if UW fits better.

Destiny 2 is what I'm playing at the moment and i feel in comp ultrawide is just too much work to take all the information incoming on the screen

Oh no, The way they have implemented widescreen support is one of the better ones. I will get some pics for you if you want ?

Although they seem to have sorted some of the issues I really couldn't recommend the PG279 or any of that line - so many people I know have had issues with them and personally I went through several of the 278 before giving it up as a bad job.

The Acer is a bit of a lottery but if you get a good one it should be good with much less chance of problems creeping in over time compared to the Asus :(

Personally I've not been suckered in by UW (21:9) though I have one on my desk alongside my Dell S2716DG it is nice for some stuff but personally I prefer 16:9 for all around usage.

Depends on what you play imho. If you're a competitive gamer then most competitive games don't do 21:9 properly citing "unfair advantage" so they cut your vertical, and the higher refresh of the 16:9s will be advantageous.

If you play mostly single player or less competitive online games, then there's no question that ultrawide is the better choice. Playing games like Witcher, Dragon Age, Elder Scrolls etc is simply a joy with the wider view and you definitely lose something on 16:9

I agree with you 100% - I'm actually have a 4k 32 predator here which I am testing for a friend. Its nice but when I play games on it I feel like theres something wrong with my view. Its only when I go back to the widescreens I am like ahh back to the norm.
