My Samsung 2433BW is now completely knackered down one side (looks like a rainbow!)

I have £250 max to spend and looking at getting a 24" TN panel or 22" of better quality. I use the screen mainly for internet (reading text) and movies.

Would I be better off getting the e- ips Dell 2209WA and losing out on 1920x1200 or getting a TN panel, possibly another Samsung?

How does that compare to the Samsung SM2433BW?

Literally the same name 'SM2443BW' bit misleading! I dont do much gaming really, just want colour not to look washed out when viewing films

Well, I can;t comment on the 2 samsungs really as i've never owned them :p
But from reviews and what people said, the samsungs are excellent for films and so are the 22" dell.
But put it like this mate, going from a 24" to a 22" makes a bigg difference.
I would stick with the 24" sammy mate, the rez makes up for the loss of the e-ips.

S2409W: probabely discontinued but if you can get it its perfect for your needs
G2410: Generally a not so good eco-screen

Still tempted by the Dell 2209WA and what eIPA has to offer over TN. I would lose 2" but cant see that being too bad, could it?

not meaning to confuse you even more or make your decision harder but 2 inches is a good bit of screen dont throw it down the drain that easily
(100th post woohoo)

I see this type of discussion coming up again and again. I have been following most of them and still have not made up my own mind. I still have some time as I will only buy next year ince our finances has settled down. However I would have loved to see the 22" and 24" TN and IPS panels next to each other in real life so that I can make up my own mind on size and quality.

There must be a review with them side by side somewhere on the net. I need a new screen though asap. My current samsung is only half usable and am currently using the left half to view everything, meaning i have to drag the taskbar to the left to see the time etc!

Lol, that sounds annoying - I can understand you wanting to get a new one quickly.

I have seen a few similar comparisons and although I do believe people when they say colors are more vibrant on the IPS panels, in my mind all that this particular video shows me is that viewing angles are better on the IPS. I don't think it will be important for me as I will only use it as a PC monitor and therefore I will always be sitting in front of it.

The other thing apart from the IPS vs TN debate is the size. The 22" is so much more affordable (IPS) than the 24", but as I don't upgrade my equipment often I'm worried that I will want a 24" few months down the line if I go for 22". At the moment I'm trying to work out how to finance the 24" IPS panel:)

I realise that the 24" is twice the price, but there is no way I'll get past the wife buying 2 screens (22") but I'm sure I'll get approval for one 24" even though the cost will be the same;)

It's already difficult explaining why my old 19" are not up to the task any more!

Its double the cost though. Cant afford £400 + for a screen really...

stick a screw driver in the back of the 19"!
