Apologies for creating the equivalent of the "which cooler" thread but I always prefer to get up-to-the second recommendations rather than searching through older threads.

Now that's out of the way.

I've just changed my RMA on the Samsung I bought to refund from direct-replacement so I can think my purchase through more carefully.

I'd like to spend between £150 - £300. I would like a 24" or greater 1980x1200 or greater. I'd like a 16:10 ratio. I game and have noticed some ghosting on a 5ms screen, I don't watch many films on my PC, I don't do any 3D mondelling etc and don't need wide viewing angles. I have never noticed any banding. I'd like a DVI input. Would really like 0 dead/stuck pixel policy.

Any recommendations? Looking for bang for buck rather than fit within a £300 budget.

Thanks for the suggestions. I think I really value resolution over black depth or faithful colour reproduction. TN 24" is probably my thing, even though it is a lesser tech.

If I were to go with a 24" TN screen are there any that are a cut above the rest?

Right, at the frustration with samsung's customer service turn around time on e-mails I'm now looking at the Dell 2408WFP. The really annoying this is no-one seems to guarentee a perferct screen, some dead pixels are OK apparently. Boo I say, 1 dead Pixel is 1 too many.

Although I can't comment about Dell TFT monitors, I have used Samsung, LG and Philips monitors so far.

I would put Philips on the bottom because of their build quality and the likelihood of dead pixels (my old Philips had 2 or 3 dead pixels on it, in the centre where they were both noticeable.

Regarding LG, I rate them quite highly, but a lot of them are VGA only - unless you start paying big money for DVI - however, the LG I had (it's now being used by my parents) had no dead pixels on it.

Out of the two Samsungs my Brother and myself have; neither has had dead pixels.

I went for a DVI 20" widescreen Samsung P2050 at the end to go with my 8800GTS - as a DVI to VGA adapter on my old LG monitor didn't work.

Just to complicate things for you further, I believe Ilyama guarantee all their flat panels are free of dead pixels - which was one of the reasons my Fiancee has one.

I hope this helps.

OK, after much searching I (finally) managed to find a monitor manufactured to class 1 standards (zero pixel faults) at 1900x1200 24". It's a Fujitsu P24W-5 ECO IPS.

Does anyone know anything about this monitor?
