which monitor

TBH, if you mainly plan to play games and have gone for with such a nice (and expensive) graphics card then I wouldn't recommend going for anything less than a 120Hz monitor (or possibly a 2560x1440 IPS monitor).

This Samsung 23in for example works great, though if you can afford it this BenQ XL2420T is excellent.

If you absolutely must spend £160 or less then this Iiyama 24in (TN panel, 60Hz refresh rate) is one of the best options for gaming.

It does look a lot similar on paper - but the XL2410T had a few issues that mean I wouldn't reccommend it. Mainly it had an issue with inverse ghosting (overdrive trailing) and backlight bleeding.

Because of this BenQ came up with a replacement that fixed these issues rather quickly - hence we have the XL2420T. This new version is very nice and doesn't have the issues of the old version while also including more connections (displayport is a big plus) and compatibility with Nvidia's new Lightboost 3D tech.

Even discounting the 3D stuff the XL2420T is really the gaming monitor to have at this price level. It is very responsive (so hardly any ghosting), has very little input lag and the 120Hz mode make fast motion feel smoother.

fair enough makes sense, but i'm not gonna lie I stil have my reservation on spending above 250, you mentioned the samsang 23 inch, is that good enough does that have any major problems? (i suppose the only issue i really would have is that the samsung isnt true 24 inch)
)
i mean it also comes with vat back, thats quite a £££ saving.

or is that benQ 20T defo worth it?, (and what are the chances of dead pixels)

The samsung 23in 120Hz is a really nice monitor - quite a lot of users on the forum have it now and most find it really nice (it's worth having a look for threads with user feedback). Here is a review of it on another forum.

It is also worth noting that this Samsung also comes with:

**Zero Dead Pixel Guarantee** - If your Samsung S23A700D has dead pixel(s) you may return it for a replacement within 14 days of receipt.

The main benefits of the BenQ over the Samsung are:

- It is larger at 24in
- It uses a non-glossy screen coating
- The stand is very adjustable
- It comes with a displayport input
- It supports Nvidia's 3D vision system including "lightboost"

That said, the BenQ doesn't have the Samsung's pixel guarantee (though you can return the monitor for a full refund under DSR for any reason if you notify them within the first 7 days of receiving it (14 days at OCUK)).

As for the chance of dead pixels on the BenQ- I'm not really sure. Pretty much everyone who has bought the XL2420T and posted on the forums has been really happy with it - but I'm not sure if they have all thoroughly checked the panels for dead pixels.
