Hi

I want to buy a NVIDIA GeForce 7950 GX2 with a Intel Core 2 DUO E6700. Which motherboard (from overclockers) performs this function the best?

Is it worth waiting for a new mboard to come out that is better for overclocking?

Should I wait for the MSI 975X Platinum V2.0 (Socket 775) PCI-Express DDR2 Motherboard (MB-072-MS) ?

thanks

It looks like the GigaByte DS4 does everything you need as I have seen people get 3.8ghz on their X6800 without struggling :)

7950 GX2 seems to work at full capacity after flashing to latest bios :)

Just gotta make sure that ram is compatible with it

thanks for the superfast reply, mboard sounds cool. The memory I'm considering is either:

Patriot 2GB (2x1GB) PC7200 900MHz DDR2 Dual Channel Kit (PDC22G7200ELK) (MY-005-PA)

or

OCZ 2GB (2 x 1GB) PC2-7200 Dual Channel EPP XTC Series DDR2 (OCZ2N9002GK)

You won't be able to twin up the graphics cards in the future though as DS4 doesn't support SLI or Crossfire. Many people reckon it's not important but adding a future graphics card down the line is a worthy upgrade and beats rebuilding the rig. I'm hanging on for RD600.

Apart from doubling the cards in the future are there any other advantages of this chipset?

Is their any news when it will be released and which manufacturers will be first?

I was also thinking that is it worth waiting as the mboard is always the cheapest to upgrade

Hey mate, That Patriot ram may not work, it doesnt on my DS3 board.

noooooooooooooooooooooo

really? What happened, was because its a PC7200? Which RAM did you buy in the end?

Hey,

You get the dreaded; Boots, fans make noise, reboot, fans make noise, reboot etc etc.

We are all hoping this will be fixed in a bios update so we all went out and purchased a small amount a cheapo ram to run in the meantime!

How about the MSI 975X Platinum PowerUP Edition (Socket 775) PCI-Express DDR2 Motherboard (MB-072-MS) ?

Will it work with a 7950 GX2, conroe 6700 and OCZ 2GB (2 x 1GB) PC2-7200 or Patriot 2GB (2x1GB) PC7200?
