Firstly, greetings
im new to the forums.

after having a really bad experaince with xfx 750i (both faulty) i decided to go after an intel chipset mobo, as i've changed my mind and want c/f over sli

I've narrowed my search down to 3 motherborads, they seem rather similar to be honest, and benchmarks show all are pretty good at o/c and whatnot, but maybe some of you experts can help :p

1. ASUS P5Q Deluxe

2. Gigabyte GA-X48-DS5

3. Gigabyte GA-EP45-UD3P

So far im leaning towards the GA-EP45-UD3P as it's able to oc rather well, and is pretty cool..

I don't mind between x8/x8 cf and x16/x16 crossfire since unelss im running a super good gfx card (like 4870x2) at extreme res, there is hardly a diffrence, and with them bieng pci-e 2.0, its compensated...

I would like to oc too (rubbish xfx would only get me up to 3.3 Ghz with ram at a max of 933mhz) and my cpu cooler is pretty good, and have some fans over the cpu area aswell, so temps wont be too limitating

The rest of my set up is:
Q6700
2x2GB Corsair XMS2 PC8500 (1066)
Radeon 4850 (possibly upgrading to a 4870 soon)

I would really appriciate the help, and thanks a lot.

Hi and welcome to the forums. theyre all good boards, but regarding the x48, id only consider this if xfire at x16 is a priority, the p45 boards will overclock a bit more, i can vouch for the p5q deluxe being a very stable board that is great for overclocking (have one since release), the gigabyte ga-ep45-ud3p is also highly reccomended.

Mmh k, i was actully leaning towards the ep45 and x16 c/f isn't really a priority for me.

The ASUS P5Q Deluxe and Gigabyte UD3P are very evenly matched so personally i would go with the cheaper of the two :)
Thats...helpful?
i can get them both for almost the same, so the price doesn't matter to be honest.
still, it would have been nice to know which you guys think is better?
i've never had experaince with asus nor gigabyte motherboards,
though i've tried evga xfx msi intel and some other ones

But to be honest i don't know which to get -_-

greetings
Hey the-sandvich,

welcome to OcUK forums! :)

If you are prepared to buy used hardware then you can't go wrong with either of these boards!

If you must have a new LGA775 board then obviously you don't wanna be spending a wad of cash on one, these two new boards can be had for reasonable money, deffo worth considering!

Welcome to OcUk The sandvich

As Big Wayne suggests either of the above mentioned boards. Although I have used the P5Q-E and it is overall extremely well laid out, overclocks well. An extremely stable board. Excellent value for money.

Hi,

to be honest, i can get both the p5q deluxe and gigabyte for about £120 so its not too much, just a tad over what i paid for the xfx
from all the reviews it seems the gigabyte is the better overclocker, and stays way cooler.
