I'm in the market for a new board for the Conroe I plan to be buying later today.

I've had a look around and have narrowed it down to a few boards that seem to be good...

Asus P5W DH Deluxe
Asus P5B Deluxe
Gigabyte DS3
Gigabyte DS4

I can't decide between those, I'm swaying towards the Asus but any comments on those boards or any better ones would be appreciated!

Cheers!

There's very little between them tbh. Probably a toss-up between the DS4 and the P5B D.

Which Conroe 2mb or 4mb.

2mb = ds3/p5b

4mb=p5wdh

The P5b/ds3 clock higher but if you are getting a 4mb core then the p5wdh clock for clock performs better and as its a higher multi 500 fsb's are hardly a requirement.

Right I've decided on the P5B, going to get some OCZ value memory and then get some decent memory at a later point. Are there any compatibility issues with that memory and that board? Also will a Scythe Ninja fit ok to the P5B?

Still undecided on which CPU to go with.. 6300 or 6400!? :confused:

6300 and a Scythe Ninja would work well, I'd go for some A-DATA ram over OCZ but its up to you :)

someone should really make a sticky thread to explain what motherboards work best with certain processors. it will prevent the flooding of same posts everyday.

i can tell you that asus p5b deluxe is absolutely best overclocker for hardcore user

asus p5w dh deluxe has ton of great features but you need to decided if really need them, like the remote control and other stuff

they both come with their own problems but they are fixable with latest bios updates and tweaks

i can't comment on ds boards

I went with the 6300 in the end, thought I could save some cash. Went for the OCZ DDR800 memory as well, should give me a bit of room for overclocking... Can't wait for it to all arrive tomorrow now! :D
