Hey all,
Am looking for a wireless mouse.
After having older MX Revolution died on me a while back, I was using g500, which is not bad mouse, but not as comfy as old MX...And now I am getting all annoyed about cable ...
So time to replace it.
Almost certain, I should go for MX performance. But what about G700 ? or even Razor Mamba ? the latter one is expensive... looks nice but some reviews are saying that it could be better in terms of quality...

Mouse is used for some gaming but am not a pro so don't require all high dpi and this stuff...

shall I stick to MX ?
Any one used all of them ?
Thanks

Choice is your!!

I've just moved from the MX Revolution to the Cyborg RAT 5, performance is 100% better as well as my own gaming experience.

Logitech's G700 looks good, but I'd go for wired for gaming! I agree with all those people who told me wired it better, yes it is!

I've got the 2012 Razor Mamba, best mouse I've ever had. Thankfully it was a pressie so I didn't have to pay for it!

Got quite large hands and fits perfectly, can use it wired or wireless, and the novelty is you can change the colour.

EDIT: I think this mouse is actually exempt of the 'wired is better' - I actually can't tell the difference between this and wired! I've always been a firm believer in wired being better for gaming too! I play Starcraft 2 as my main game to quite a high standard, but its equally as good for FPS type games like BF3...

it needs to be wireless :)
As I said, if thre is a slight delay, I wont even notice ;)

so ergonomics and wireless are priority

as for Mamba
Yes price can give you a headache :D

If I would go for it, I would need to pay at least half for it - its a Xmas pressie for myself but it is way over budget so would have to ad dmy funds for half of it...

If you would like an alternative opinion, here is mine.

I had a Logitech G7 for years and loved it. Logitech have not replaced it adequately with any of the current range. Because the G7 lasted me for about 7 years I was of the school of thought that a mouse is an investment and went for the Razer Mamba 2012.

I wanted a wireless mouse so I could control media player from my bed. I now have a Nexus 7 and HTC One S and use Unified Remote as a trackpad to control the PC so wireless is no longer essential for me and his works better.

1. Battery was disapointing and needed to be charged every 3-4 hours of gaming. I could then play with the cable in and continue but that was not the point.
2. Battery died within 2 months and the replacement has now given up the ghost. Warranty for the battery is only 6 months which should tell you something. Razer want £30 for a new battery. Have tried an unbranded off amazon for £8 and it is crap and doesn't hold charge very long.
3. I have a reasonably clean desk but find the Mamba picks up small bits of crud and i need to wipe near the laser hole a couple of times a week. Never had this with any mouse before, gaming or not.
4. The pads on the bottom are not that smooth and find the pads scuff easily and drag a bit. After light use for 9 months it doesn't feel smooth so would have to look to buy new pads at extra cost.

These are the real problems I have experienced.....
I feel completely done for £100 as I did pay for it. Have never felt chuffed with it. I buy a reasonable amount of tech and try not to have rose tinted glasses but am not overly sinicle.

Personal/subjective gripes......
1. Doesn't feel like a £100 mouse.
2. I find the lights a bit gimecky and too bright in my bedroom so have them switched off.
3. Updating is a bit hairy and no firmware update since January 2012 (I think).
4. Doesn't feel that accurate for me. The micro adjustent is too fiddly and I can't get the result I want.

I found this post because I am looking for a new mouse. I will start my own thread to get advice on what will fit my requirements.

I hope this is useful for you and gives you something else to think about.

FYI: I am looking at the Logitech G500 as it is the same shape as the G7 which I loved even though it is wired. I am hoping to get other suggestions to look at but is very difficult to choose a new mouse a there are so many to choose from.

Good luck with what you decide to buy.

That has confirmed my reservations about buying one, was looking at it a while back, glad I didn't. Hope you find a suitable replacement as it sounds like you've had a hard time there.

That does indeed sound like a terrible time, but not experienced any of those myself, I normally game between 2-4 hours per night and just put it on its charger after that. If I have a binge on the weekend, say 6-7 hours maybe more! Which is quite excessive gaming (says the missus) then the battery does run dry!

Had it since around Christmas last year and still going strong. The pad I use is the Thin/Travel Steelseries QcK?? ... I'm not a tidy person either, but rarely have to clean all the crap off it, tends to be the feet that get most of the stuff on it!

I had the G500 prior to this, amazing mouse, gave up the ghost for me when the tracking started getting jumpy in games. still keep it as a backup though :) I reaaaaally liked the weights feature with this one!

I use the G700.

Ergonomically it is great for my hands and how I hold a mouse. The surface isn't rubberized. However I find whilst using it my hands don't slip of it or get sweaty after long gaming periods.

It has plenty of buttons which are in reachable and well placed positions for right handed gamers. The way the buttons protrude and are designed ensure you don't fumble about looking down at what button to press.

You can use it wireless or corded. It comes with a usb powered rechargeable battery and from full charge I'd say you can get around 6 hours gaming on the "Max Gaming" setting; possibly more if using "Power Saver".

The weight of it is perfect and it feels like a well constructed product. It tracks and glides effortlessly wooden surfaces. I use mine on the Boogie mouse mat as it offers some friction.

The newly released (Dec 5th) Logitech Gaming Software (LGS) 8.4 has a few bugs which is expected really, but at least it does away with the 90's GUI (Setpoint).

It is much better using LGS than setpoint since I have a G13 too. I can auto detect BF3 from the GUI and map it's commands directly to any mouse button which is great. Therefore, no more fiddling through game menus trying to find out what button does what and then mapping it to setpoint.

Additionally I like that mouse settings/commands can be stored per game and automatically detects your settings as soon as the game loads.

Also dpi settings increment in 50 instead of 100 which is fantastic. I always wanted to try out 2350 where as previously I had to make do with either 2300 or 2400, now movement is perfect.

I also use a script for my FPS games which is similar to the Sniper Assist feature on the G600 MMO and the G-Shift feature in LGS. Now when I ADS the dpi shifts to 1000dpi.

My only grievance besides battery life would be the additional buttons; I wish they made some kind of clicking sound and that the buttons could change colour (I do like a bit of bling)
