I have my shiny new pc and am using an old Microsoft Habu mouse which is starting to feel a bit tired so time for a new mouse.

  • I don't really want to spend more than £40 or £50 at very most.
  • I'm most used to the intellimouse shape with their high palm rests and pretty traditional symmetrical shape.
  • I don't play MMO's so a 100 buttons aren't required. In fact, 2 buttons would be more than enough (I usually disable side buttons because I press them accidentally more than I do intentionally).
  • Switchable DPI and cool lights are a bonus :)

Yeah oddly enough, I was looking at both Zowie and the Steelseries ones. My only concern with the Zowie is that it looks a little on the short side but that might just be the image. I will have to do some more research.

Can't comment on the size as I haven't seen or used one. I used the new deathadder, quite large palm rest mouse but over your budget, although the other deathadder models are shaped basically the same and are very similar and cheaper.

woah... that's a lot of stats! I don't think I'd notice too much difference between the EC1 or the EC2, but most places appear to have run out of stock of the black in either. Is it being discontinued or replaced?

More likely out of stock. Zowies are the flavour of the day atm.

Look for the evo versions.

EC1 Evo -> Intelimouse Explorer 3.0 / Habu.
EC2 Evo -> Wheelmouse Optical 1.1.
AM / FK -> Small office desktop mice (Dell / HP).

Also, Steeseries Sensei RAW (between AM / EC2), Deathadder (IM3.0 type mouse).
