I've been sort of forced into having an iTunes library because of having an iPod and people other than myself playing music from my PC. My personal preference of Wianmp + Windows Explorer, nice and simple.

Give SharePod a go, you won't need iTunes then.

Windows media player for me, does everything I need and syncs nicely with my walkman.

same here and makes video sync to my sony X series really easy but time consuming

Works perfectly and does exactly what I need and want it to do. I started using it only because I bought an iPod, however it has become my favoured music player regardless.

Winamp can manage your iPod

iTunes. I don't understand the problem with it really. It makes ripping/organising as simple as can be and it syncs straight to my iPod. Any reasons why Winamp is better?

I use iTunes for ripping, iPod and general listening - quite like it too personally, I have Winamp set to play .mp3/.wav files though as its quicker and easier if I'm just listening to one-off stuff, samples etc. and don't wan't it in my library.
