Hiya Everybody! :D

Having troubles picking a new MP3 player, was hoping from all your experiances and knowledge I will be able to get somewhere :p

I've been looking at :

New Apple Ipod Nano 2GB
Samsung YP-Z5

I really cant decide between them, the main reason I'm currently siding with the samnsung is because of "Itunes". I've heard that your not allowed to rip cd's or its suppose to be illegal in UK?

Anywho, any suggestions would be great

I've just retired my iPod (4th gen) and replaced it with a Samsung YP-Z5.

Sound quality is good enough for me to identify the songs and hear the lyrics. I use 64K WMA on the Samsung instead of 192k mp3 on the iPod.

The user interface on the Samsung is nowhere as good as the iPod. If I were the sort of person who's always changing playlists etc, it would bother me. I just shuffle ALL my tracks and the buttons I press are play/pause, volume and on/off.

The 35 hour claimed battery life and not needing video playback swung my decision in favour of the Samsung over the Sandisk.

I've had a creative Zen V for a couple of months, price has come down since i bought mine, bargain now, tiny, simple to use, none of that Itunes malarkey, and great sound quality.

For those of you thinking about the Sandisk E series, I had one for about a day, and Hated it. It is a nice peice of equipment, and the interface is quite good actually, but the one thing that let it down is the raised click wheel. It made it hard to press the Next and Previous buttons for me. I did really like the rapsidy channels however.

I ended up having to take it back and getting a nano. I also have a Creative Zen Vision W, and think it is fantastic (the screen is fantastic), but it is a little too big to carry around all the time, and run with.

I've read others say that in the Sandisk forums.
Usually considered a "get used to it" thing - like the tiny buttons on new mobile phones :)
Definately a personal thing as daughter ( it's hers ) with manicured nails and me with clumpy fingers managed fine.
As with all things definately something to test --- like the new "touch sensitive" LG Chocolate, horrible (imho) !!!
