Is it possible to buy older versions of MS Office?

The reason I ask is I have a friend who has started a computer course and at the moment they are learning Excel, spreadsheets etc.

So he wants to get used to it at home as well, however he only has Windows 98 and cant afford the upgrade in hardware it would take to get to XP.

So which version of MS Office can I get for him?

please dont say open Office as that aint much use when he is learning excel and is far too novice to apply what he learns in excel to calc.

I would get Office 2000.

I used that with Win98 and with XP - until a month or two ago, when I have now started using Office 2007.

cheers bas!

next question, where can I get a copy of that legally?
Erm...not sure if it's still sold, TBH.

It's times like this, when I'd suggest the not-so-legit ways - purely because it's easier to get hold of, not because it's free.
