I'm looking for a netbook with a budget of around £250. So far the choice seems to be a Dell 10v, Samsung N130 or Asus 1005HA (N270 processor), there's also the N280 Asus at £270 but that's slightly over my budget.

Can anyone recommend one of these models over the others, or something else at a similar price? Is it worth spending an extra £30 for the N280 over the N270 Asus netbooks?

Thanks,

Siobhan

I've just been researching netbooks in this price range. They all pretty much have the same spec; Atom 270/280, 1GB Ram and 160GB Hard Drive.
The Asus 1005 would be my choice because of the design and long battery life.

You can't really go wrong though - go for the one you like :)

A 280 processor is around 1-2 seonds quicker boot into XP.
Also the 280 Asus 1005 comes with a 10 hour battery vs 8 hours on the 270 model.

Raikiri, is it much bigger and heavier than a Sammy NC10? I'm considering one of these as a work replacement laptop and need something with a bit more grunt than a std netbook.

NC10 is 26.1 cm x 18.6 cm x 3 cm and 1.3kg

311c is 28.9cm (W) x 20.4cm (D) x 1.98cm (H) and 1.46kg

So it's 3cm wider, 2cm deeper but quite a bit thinner.

Do you think it would handle XP Pro or Vista Business pretty easily? Is the screen very glossy and reflective? I'd be using it in a variety of locations, sometimes on a train or from my car and glossy screens are a nightmare if the sun is on you.

I'm running Windows 7 Ultimate on it right now and it's fine. As for the screen it is reflective but I've not noticed it being any worse than other laptops, purely due to how bright it can go.
