Sorry, should have also added it has a very nice keyboard (chicklet) which is large, apparently its about 90% the size of a normal keyboard, and it also has a very nice and easy to ues touchpad, large, with lots of good features, (eg: you can pull apart two fingers to expand or open a window).

Just thought I'd throw another one into the mix:
Toshiba NB200 pretty much identical specs to the Asus 1000HE above, except I think it has a nicer design (it reminds me a little of the Vaio P series). The downside is it's pricey at 319 ex vat.

Lenovo s10e.

Is it upgradeable to 2g ram? Is 1gig soldered on? Can the drive be upgraded? What about fan noise? Thanks

Edit: Ruled out the Lenovo now. The ones below are the main contenders now:

Advent 4211c

Samsung NC10

MSI WIND

My friend just got the advent for his gf, really pleased with it, £260 inc. del. Bit of a bargain.

Well, bought the Advent 4211c. After selling a free Laptop i was given and fixed, for £180 the Advent only cost me £60!!!! This includes a 1gig upgrade of ram! Hoping to get it next week!

nice one aslong as you dont expect hardcore gaming these netbooks are quite fun and adequate for most casual tasks.

anyway im just about to play some jedi outcast 2 online with a mate using mine :D

enjoy

Don't discount the NC10 too easily, I've got one and it's fantastic - very light and the battery lasts forever in real usage - ie wifi on, using Firefox/Thunderbird, it will last for 5hrs easily. Currently saying 2hrs 50min remaining with 53% battery :)

Quite happily using it now while my girlfriend borrows my real computing power for her video editing :)

Should just work. I installed it on my netbook. Win7 is compatible with most vista/xp drivers anyway, so if it doesn't find your wireless, try using the xp driver.
