which netbook? good battery life a must

I have 1000HE and the battery life definately longer than NC10 and probably the longest battery life on netbook at the moment.

I get around 7 - 7.5 hrs with AVI with WI-FI on and i'm sure you get a bit longer when WI-FI off i.e. on the plane which i'm going to use it next week on 14hrs flight :D

It's a bit more expensive than NC10 but you get longer battery life, chiclet keyboard which very nice to type on, Draft N (stronger wi-fi), N280 so you get what you paid for and i think better value than NC10 :D

edit: i use WIN 7 :D

i plan to install that as well. just dont like XP. havent used it since the first vista betas came out.

Hey Willy,

Do you have the problem of a reduced battery life in win 7? Its just that my battery says I have around 5Hrs after I have charged it. Does this mean I only have 5 hrs or is it just a graphical glitch and i actually have the 7 odd hours?

couldnt it be due to the fact that these netbook makers adjust power settings/profiles but you wouldn't have these in win7 and would have to create your own?

RegHardware's review of the Dell Mini 10v reported very good battery life with the 6-Cell battery.

By way of a battery test we ran put the 10v through its paces playing a standard-definition H.264 video at full screen with the screen brightness turned all the way up to 11 and the Wi-Fi radio switched on. This yielded a result of 5 hours 8 minutes, which puts the 10v up amongst the better performing netbooks and equates to a real-world battery life well in excess of six hours. The absolute best we managed was eight hours 32 minutes with the Wi-Fi radio off and the screen brightness turned right the way down.

For £199 + £40 for the 6-Cell battery it sounds like a good option. Apparently quite a nice piece of kit too, a basic netbook but well built.

you're looking at £283 so far when you add a 160gig hard drive as well as the 6-cell batt to the mix. or £293 with wifi 'n'

The Asus 1005HA seems to have very impressive battery life, not sure on the price though. Has been getting positive reviews in any case.
