As title.
i'm looking to buy a netbook for classes when i can't be bothered to take my proper laptop, or when i don't want to risk breaking it.

as it'll be used for actual work, a good keyboard is essential, so i was wondering which 8.9" netbook has the biggest/best keyboard.

i've had a play with the Aspire one and they keyboard on that is pretty good, but i was wondering if there was anything better.

I can't say, not having taken much interest in the things myself. However I was in the purple shirt place the other day to grab a pack of DVDs I needed in a hurry and they had quite a range of netbooks in, might be worth seeking out one to try as what other people like you might not...

i'll look into visiting purp-shirt-land then. i wonder if there's one in walking distance...

I heard the HP mini-note has the best keyboard (size wise) but you pay more for this.

The small EEEs have a very small keyboard. The Aspire Ones are about the same as the Wind (I believe).

EEE 1000 has full sized keyboard, I've only had it 2 hours but it seems great - ok its not 8.9" like you asked, but its still a net book.

to be honest, if i got a 10" netbook i might as well just cart around my proper laptop. (12.1")

The difference in size between the Acer one and the Avent 4211 (MSI wind) is minimal, however the small size difference is more than made up for my the screen.

Also the netbook will be significantly lighter than a 'proper' 12.1 laptop (I know my 4211 is a lot lighter than my parents philips X56)

I also found the keyboard to be better on the 4211 which is why I ended up getting one.

You are best off popping into your local purple place and actually trying out the different netbooks on offer.

I would say though despite the smaller size and weight advantage if you already have a 12.1" laptop I personally don't see much point in getting a netbook. I only bought one as lugging around my 17" X80R gamimng laptop is back breaking.

I find the MSI Wind (Advent 4211) has the best keyboard, I've not had any problem typing on it and it's got a full size enter key which is also a plus if you're picky like me :-p I've tried the smaller Eee PC's and just found it so hard to type properly!

I know this probably wont help much, but Dell are doing their own mini-Inspiron style laptop. 8.9"

If the keyboard is anything like the Inspiron 1525 keyboard, then I'd highly recommend it.

Very nice to type on.
