There are several new handsets coming out soon. The Xperia Arc, the Galaxy S II, the LG Optimus 2x and the Optimus 3D.

What do people think the one to go for is?

i cant make my mind up on xperia play. At the same time WIN for a dpad so emulaators will own, but then again no dual core!

Yeah, I know :( (hopefully it's successful and the Xperia play 2 has more game oriented hardware)

On the other hand... NGP!!!! :D The only "tablet" I'm interested in :p

I am veering towards the Galaxy S II - the fact that it runs DivX media out of the box is a big plus.

Battery life is going to be probably the biggest factor. I have an iPhone4 at the moment and it's battery life is great for a smartphone. It was the main reason I got rid of my Desire last year.

I think not, havent you been reading the reports about the low power usage?

Sorry, for me battery life is going to be the biggest issue.

I have read lots of reports on improved battery life but no cast iron "real world" reports on how long the things last.

SGS2 looks about best with it's 1GB RAM, pretty amazing screen, shame it's 4.3" which IMO is too big for a phone to hold comfortably, 4.0" was big enough.

Maybe the devices that come in Q3/Q4 will be better. :)

Out of interest why is native divx playback a big plus? Rockplayer plays xvids fine even on my San Francisco and takes less than a minute to install.

For me the more improtant thing is that it runs 720p files out of the box. My mates with a desire cant run 720p, and with rock player it rans at like 1 fps or something horrid like that.

Most of my film collection is in 720p DivX format. I want to be able to just drag and drop files for playback.

When I had a Desire last year I tried out Rockplayer and had some playback issues.
