Going to get a new set up soon, a Mac Studio probably but since the monitor i have don't have great speakers, going to go with a headphone set up for the desk.

I would like...

Able to drive HD580 and HD600 comfortably
Sounds good
Bluetooth - so if I want to play music from my phone into it, with the computer off, I can do that.

Bonus if it has these

XLR output - for my HD580 and HD600
Balanced out
A LCD screen
Tube
Pre-out.

I want to keep it under £300, but can stretch a bit more.

Shortlist are Topping DX3 Pro+, Fii0 K7BT, Schiit Magnius, S.M.S.L SH-6 Stack.

Xduoo TA-22 would be perfect but like double what i have in mind, and the unit is a little too big for my desk.

The Schiit Magnius is just a headphone amp/pre amp. No DAC.

I've had a couple of FiiO products in the past and they do punch above their weight, but then so do SMSL and Topping.

I've been using the non BT version of the Fiio K7 for a couple of months now and really happy with it. Headphones ranging from easy to drive HD58X Jubile, Meze 109 Pro and harder to drive audeze lcd-2 cb. It powers them all fine with plenty of power spare.

Sound is so tricky and to taste so best to read reviews then demo the units. Buy form somewhere with good returns policy.

Thanks, I did look into that but the non-linear volume pot is a negative for me.

Right now....I am thinking getting the Topping Dx3 Pro + and then call it a day...or go all out and get a Xduoo TA-22 or even the Fiio R7 but I feel being an Android based unit will date really badly in a few years.

I am leaning in the Topping right now and use my Phone as the source most of the time and then it will won't date as fast as the R7.

yeah the volume pot is ok, it's just a bit laggy if you use it a lot. Currently I just put it to 50% and control volume from keyboard pot adjusting windows volume

Ran my hd650 off an ifi zen v2 no issues at all and added the ifi zen can too for under £300 it was only the ifi balanced cable that tipped it over that but you can buy one non ifi for a snip
