hi ya at the moment i am with news demon for my news server and am wanting to change to Giganews because they have a longer retention time, my only worrier is what news reader to use, at the moment I’m am using news rover because that comes free with the news demon service.

i am wondering if Giganews comes with a newsgroup reader or will i have to get one, i would like some recommendation, my be a free one or one that will cost me a little, just looking for your opinions, also i only use NZB file to download so i only need a program to get them and decompress the rar files

I've just gone from Newsbin Pro to Newsleecher, mainly because of the Supersearch and I'm quite happy with it so far.

Newsleecher is awesome and now they do a pay as you use type scheme for a couple of dollars a month. Also, there is an awesome extension to automatically par/unrar downloads/ I have tried a few different news readers but always go back to newsleecher.

Another vote for Newsleecher. If you have a look on the Giganews site I think they're still running the offer that gets you a free copy when you sign up.

I've been using Newsleecher for a few years now and it's my favourite usenet prog, but yesterday I found a nice free alternative while googling for a portable prog to put on a flash drive.

http://www.altbinz.com/

Seems to have much of the same features as Newsleecher (multiple servers, NZB, unpar/unrar), not sure about a Supersearch equivalent though.

Only downloaded a few things with it so far, but seems fine.
I'll continue to use Newsleecher at home, but this Altbinz will be handy to use at a friend's house, Uni etc.

SABnzbd - Nice web based reader, plus supports automatically running a PAR2 check and then unrarring after the batch completes.
