I'm looking to upgrade from my 8600GTS, and I want to buy nvidia for the linux support. However, I've heard that most of the newest cards have high defect rates. What cards are/are not affected by this problem?
 
The only nVidia GPU that has high defect rate at the moment is the 8600m GT. Theres rumours of related issues with the 8500GT and 8600GT desktop parts but so far I don't think theres been any evidence.
