which Nvidia drivers for new 8800 GTS 512 ?

just off to post office to collect my card now (it was attempted delivery yesterday)

ive got rid of all the ATI software using Driver cleaner, just need to download best nvidia drivers and i can get going

Use the ones on the driver CD that comes with it - i tired installing some 167.xx off the nVidia site, but they failed

That would be because they don't support the gts 512.

As far as I know, the 169.25 beta drivers support the GTS 512

Yep I looked into this myself. Checked nVidia's current offical release version and it is a lil bit outdated to use with the 512mb card.

I noticed after I used the drivers on the CD they are in fact the beta ones out now (the first beta not the curret 3rd beta drivers). But it looks like the driver has been modified in someway as it does not say the driver version is beta and I thought only the second beta version prior to the one released today/yesterday only just added support for the 512mb cards.

Eaither way, the card is fast as you could hope for. Having upgraded from an X1800 XT I am well happy.

i usually never bother with the ones from the CD

the ones from the internet are usually the best, but as the OP has said, the only official ones are too old to support the card.
