With 10% welcome back offer, free shipping and a free copy of Grid, it's time for a new card to upgrade from the 32mb ATI Radeon 7000 I've got just now! :o :o :o I used to have a Radeon 9800 Pro but the fan died and took the card with it.

I'm looking at the following:
E2180 overclocked to 3+Ghz hopefully
TRUE 120
Asus P5Q-E mobo
2x2gb DDR2

I've got a 24" monitor so run at 1920x1200. I use my PC as a HTPC as well so the hardware HD acceleration is great. I gave up on games when my old Radeon died but want to play Supreme Commander and, of course, my free copy of Grid.

Low noise is important to me as well as the price. The two that look good to me are the Powercolor and the Gainward.

I'm leaning towards the Powercolor 'cause it's cheaper. Are there any other real differences? Noise? Cooling? Overclockability? Warranty?

Cheers!

Just get whatever is cheapest all the coolers are the same it's just the stickers which are different.

Yeah, that's what I thought from the pictures. Cheers!

Does anyone know about the warranties on these?

Not sure on this one cant seem to find any rma/warranty service info on powercolors site which certainly doesn't bode too well imo.
I'd certainly look in to it more before purchasing.
My gut feeling is that power color has a less than attractive rma service but don't quote me on it.

Fitted the Gainward one in a mates pc, plays GRID at 60+fps 4xaa no probs with no overclock on the card or cpu. Well impressed for the money.

Somebody said something in another thread about Powercolor being one of ATi's preferred vendors. That might be significant, I don't know tho.

(I too am considering these two cards!)

Hmm I have read a few horror stories with Powercolour on these forums and elsewhere (then again people don't tend to post when they have had good service) and Gainward offer 1 year more of it.

Did they tell you that? I haven't found warranty information on the site.

I've read elsewhere that the Powercolor has a 2 year warranty.

Thanks Mr Paul. That's strange, the warranty information is there if you look at the category but disappears when you look at the individual card details.

I've got a 10% off voucher which makes the difference between the cards £4.23 but is the extra years warranty worth that?

I just got a Gecube Ati 4850 for a m8 for £108 inc delivery, dunno what Gecube are like never owned one but I am guessing the cards are all the same just with different stickers on them.
