I've ordered a Radeon ATI X1900XTX graphics card and have a choice of 2 PC's to put it in.

The first is a dual 2 core 2.13ghz proccessor/ 2 gigs of ram/ 250 gig hard disk.
This PC is used for other stuff such as photoshop, dreamweaver, email etc and is my general workhorse.

The second PC has had a fresh format and will be *only* used for gaming.
P4 hyper threading 650 3.4ghz proccessor/ 2 gigs of DDR2 ram/ 350 gig hard disk.

Which one should i use for best gaming performance and will the dual 2 core machine make much difference?

Why did you buy a high-end graphics card if you don't even know which PC to put it in?

Put it in the gaming machine.

Welcome to the forums by the way. :)

Yeah i know :)

The P4 is actually just a spare machine i recently put in the loft.
Had a clearout the other day and thought i could put it to use by using it for games.

Then i got thinking about adding the new card to the dual 2 core machine if it would give me greater performance.

Intel Core 2 CPU 6400 @ 2.13ghz.
I'm out of touch with proccessors now :p

It's a Core 2? Eek goodness grief man then make that your gaming rig NOW it will destroy the P4. And don't forget to overclock it!

Use your P4 as the workhorst, it would be an insult otherwise. :D

For someone who's supposedly out of touch, that's a damn fine processor choice . As it is,it's one of the fastest gaming chips around, clock it up a bit and you'll be in gaming Nirvana, especially when paired with an XTX!

Well i put it in the core 2 machine (water cooler and all!) and played F.E.A.R at max settings and performance is stunning.
Average frame rate of 81 with max at 211.
Thanks all for info.

Uhh, the conroe one :)

It's an Allendale mate.Conroe starts at the 6600,each core of the Conroe has 2MB of L2 cache as opposed to 1MB for each core of L2 for the Allendale,I'm pretty sure they are otherwise identical.

No need to be nitpicky mate, we all know what he meant. ;)

May aswell get it right,I was just trying to be informative, maybe the bloke wasn't aware of the differing cores,we're not all geeks you know! ;)

Actually thats wrong, its shared cache not per core like AMD's X2 line.. 2MB between both cores on allendale and 4MB shared on conroe.
