Hi guys,

I am after a serious driving simulator and last night found something I loved -- GTR EVO. Just played the demo. Excellent.

Quick question -- if I was just to buy one game, should I buy Race 2007, or GTO evo? As a review said GTO Evo was a bit of a half-ar$ed stand-alone expansion to race2007 with only 1 more track (whatever on earth that means).

They are both an identical £15 on steam. Which one would you suggest? I don't want to spend £30 on them both ..?

Any help most appreciated.

Britters.

GTREvo is an addon to Race 07 really, when you buy the "standalone" version you get Race 07 anyway. You might be better off searching well know etailers who have the full game for under a tenner. You can then choose to install a steam version or offline version.

Just buy the standalone GTR: Evo, then it's all together. That cost me £17 from a high st game store the week after it was released.

GRID is not a serious driving simulator.

You could also try Live For Speed, the physics are excellent, though there are few tracks and cars.

GTR2 is older now but still good, as is GT Legends.

Playing a proper sim is just so cool, but I'd advise anyone who is used to grid etc. to prepare to have their ego bruised a little! I personally thought I was the mutts-nuts at driving, based on GRID. GTR EVO demo gave me a short sharp reality check -- and after thinking '...er ..er .. the game must be rubbish as I'm finding this hard' it suddenly hooked me! The pure feel you get for the car .. awesome.

On the demo I turned off all the computer help. I have a G25. It is so good -- floor the car in a low gear and the smallest bit of turn and you'll just spin it. Try to turn into a corner with full brakes pressed -- well naturally you've just locked up your wheels so you're going straight on regardless of where you've pointed the wheels..

GRID only players .. give the FREE demo of GTR a go .. to be honest .. it's given me a new respect for the entire sport in general! The only downer is it kind of 'disses' grid. Like if you're really good at Fifa '09 then join a team in real life .. it's a tough old reality check for a while!

(I'll look for a demo of 'live for speed' tonight .. thanks for the heads up)

And once you've sussed offline racing with all the aids off get yourself in to online league racing. When done properly takes the racing to a whole new level.
