Want a known brand so it makes it easier to possibly pick up a second later on. Also want as least coil whine as possible. Thanks.

YOUR BASKET
1 x Asus GeForce GTX 970 DirectCU II OC Strix 4096MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card £299.99
1 x Gigabyte GeForce GTX 970 G1 Gaming 4096MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card £293.99
1 x EVGA GeForce GTX 970 SSC rev2.00 ACX 2.0 4096MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card (04G-P4-3975-KR) £289.99
1 x MSI GeForce GTX 970 Gaming Edition 4096MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card £281.99
Total : £1,165.96 (includes shipping : Ex.VAT).

I'd go just go with the cheapest you can get, unless you have some clear brand preferences. Fortunately, the cheapest one happens to be the MSI which is a nice card.

Got two MSI 4G GTX970's in SLI and in gaming they are near silent. Top one maxes out at 65c with air cooling :D

I have no coil whine on my 2 (but that could be luck)?:)

If you're running a case with good airflow, any of the above should be fine with a custom fan profile if you go down the SLI route. The EVGA is the one I'd go with from your selection although all the above will get the job done.

the gigabyte triple fanned one for sure it will be the quietest + better uk based warranty rma support

Agreed, and these also have a coil whine guarantee like the Infin8
Apparently a very good cooler too despite being reference design

Also, I believe with a small BIOS mod any card can be made passive like the MSI if they aren't already, so if that option appealed to you :)

It doesn't have a coil whine guarantee like the Infin8

"Coil Whine reduction technology" is what it states. No mention of a guarantee

I initially thought this too, but Gibbo stated later that if it meets the same terms as the Infin8 and has coil whine (good PSU) then OcUK will replace it :)

Yes these have a similar technology to help reduce it and if you get whine with a quality PSU we will replace it no issue. :)

Thanks for pointing that out. I only read what it said on the actual page.

Out of the cards on your list I would go for the Gigabyte.

I Have the Infin8 Black Edition myself and am very happy with it :)

Cheers all, I think I'll go for the Gigabyte. The reviews on Guru 3D are excellent.

One more question.

It says it has 6 and 8 pin connectors. I take it these both have to be used. My old Corsair 620w PSU only comes with 6 pin PCI-E cables. What can I do? Are the cables available?

I had a look at reviews of the HX620, it is a 6+2pin design, so you place them together to make an 8pin.
