1. Kingston Hyperx Blu RAM 4GB

2. G.Skill RipjawsX

3. Corsair Vengeance Blu

I want to buy the 1600mhz ones as there are faster, but is there much difference if I get the 1866mhz in gaming???
Would a 1600mhz RAM be able to overclocked higher?

thanks

I don't think it makes any difference. But i can confirm that the Kingston Hyperx Blu are excellent. Runs cas 9 @1.5V 1600mhz and overclocks very well. Can run Cas8 @1.65v.

kingston hyperx blu

I have some and wont boot @ cas 8 1600mhz 1.65v it's not the best ram why it's so cheap but it does the job I would just get it because it's cheap It will overclock at 9-9-9-27 probably a tad under 2000mhz though but no you wont notice a difference really just bung it as near to 1600mhz as you can get

what I also like about kingston is they have a uk based RMA service.

I'm going to have to disagree with the others. Both the Corsair and the G Skill have tighter timings than the Kingston so therefore should perform better. Whether you'd actually notice the difference though is highly unlikely so I'd just buy whatever's cheapest, which in this case would be the Corsair Vengence @ £39.99.

Hmmm I guess I will have to reconsider this then lol, The CPU fan I will have is Gelid Tranquillo would that be ok?

Some folk do get good timings on the kingston I have merely tried a few as cant be bothered maybe i tried the wrong timings seems a long drawn out affair to find timings that work.As you can see the differences between tighter timings and looser ones is so small it doesn't justify the outlay.

Yeah, like I said you're highly unlikely to see any real world performance increases at all with such tiny difference in timings, apart from of course in memory specific benchmarks. You may as well just get whatever's cheapest at the time :)

Yeah you will notice absolutely no difference in games and you have to go from the slowest possible RAM for the type your using, to the fastest possible to see any meaningful gain in benchmarks that couldn't be dismissed as margin of error.

Corsair Vengeance Blu, got this the other day on special, seems fine,

upgraded from 2x2gb Gskill ripjaws, but just put my ripjaws back in as well for 12gb.

I've just seen these Crucial Ballistix Sport 8GB Dual Channel 1600mhz for £37.99-http://overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=MY-132-CR. any1 try these are they good for gaming?

thanks

They have poor timings, I'd spend the extra 4 quid on the Corsair Vengeance that are on "This week only" - link

Thanks mate, I think I will go with the Corsair Vengeance RAM.

Edit- It looks quite big with the heat spreaders, I wonder if it will fit my PC, My CPU Cooler is Gelid Tranquillo?

thanks
