ill let him know the 275 or 285, he said if he gets enough money this month he might even stretch to the 295 even thought its ott on price. All 3 are quality cards though aint they, same as the 4870x2 and the 4890. ill let him decide, anyways before the 31st who knows, the price might come down a little with the release of some new cards hehe. thanks for all your advice and help guys , we now know a little clearer of where we are with his system.

GTX285.£224.99 inc VAT
4870 X2. £242.98 inc VAT
4890. £142.99 inc VAT
260. £119.99 inc VAT
275.£164.99 inc VAT

A single 4890 should be more than happy at 1920x1080.

I am not a big fan of dual GPU's but he could build a a system to beat a GTX295 for less money.

Two 260's and a SLI board would be about equal to the GTX295, but some SLI chipsets are crap.

Two 4890's and a Intel x38 Motherboard should be faster than a GTX295.
