Right, can't decide which one of these to go for:

Acer AL1916W 19" Widescreen

Acer AL1716AS 17" LCD

Viewsonic VX724 (Had one for a day but it had a lot of backlight bleed, not sure if that was a one off)

These are all within my budget. I do not want a full 19'' TFT. Please can anyone advise me as i am new to this. I do play games as well as the usual things done on a pc. I just want a Good TFT that looks great as well as delivering a super picture (not much to ask!).

As stated above, the Viewsonic had backlight Bleed that i could not live with! So are hope the next TFT is ok!

well over all they are quite similar. The VX724 would have the edge in term so responsiveness and the overdrive control on the Viewsonic / AU Optronics combo models is very good and so you don't suffer too much from the issues which overdrive can cause. Viewsonic tend to make very good quality products and so it is likely you were just unlucky with the VX724 before in terms of panel uniformity. The Acer 19"WS might be a nice choice if you're wanting a WS format model, and the extra size that a 19" screen can offer over 17" is nice as it adds immersion to games and movies. The WS format is also good if you intend to watch any movies on it. Tbh, performance wise it would probably be quite hard to tell much difference between them all, since they are all based on fast TN Film panels. See if you can choose one based on looks, price and features :)
 
Thanks. Still hard to decide. I quite like the WS TFT but not sure if i would have problems with games?

Gone off the viewsonic after having that problem with it! Also, they do tend to have a hight stand! I like my Monitor to be lower.

Probably not the best person to give adivce on screen's as I only just received my very first TFT this morning. I went for the acer 19inch widescreen, I am soo chuffed with it considering the price paid. Glad I realised the value of this screen and did'nt go more ££'s as originally planned.

I'll put up a few ingame shots in the "acer al1916w" thread in a bit!!

Sorry mate. You know what its like when you are eager for answers. Thing is i have just ordered the Acer WS 19'' TFT now so you can delete this thread if you want to. Thanks anyway.
