Which one should I get?

Neither, they are both really slow, so if your hoping they will make a good gaming cpu then your way off the mark.

Also unlocking cores is not guaranteed, do you have a motherboard capable of unlocking cores?

That board does indeed unlock cores, but again you need to be lucky to get a CPU with working cores when unlocked.

If your pinning all your hopes on getting free performance then its better to just get a tri-core and if it unlocks - great, you have a quad core.

if it doesn't - never mind, you still have a fast CPU.

can't just get a board capable of unlocks then get any processor and expect it to have hidden, deactivated cores. what for example brings you to the conclusion that the Athlon X2 can unlock, unlock to what exactly?

wait and get more money, aim for an Athlon II x4 or Phenom II x4 if you can, damn good for gaming and pretty cheap, youll be glad you did

Or i3/i5 CPU's, Dual Cores are pretty much minimum spec on the latest games, for example BF, BFBC2. don't expect higher settings specially for future releases, i had to make a move over to Quad Cores as i was getting annoyed with low frame rates on by duo core.

oh hell no!

even if you have a super tight budget, at least get a pentium dual core or a core 2 duo :D
